Welcome!
The great game of golf has been around for hundreds of years. There are several rules that golfers need to remember including out of bounds, lateral, and natural hazards. When you shoot your golf ball out of bounds you must take one penalty stroke and reshoot your ball. This means on your next tee shot you will be shooting three. When you shoot the ball in the water the same rule applies however you can take the ball to the penalty drop area and drop your ball for your third shot.
When you hit your golf ball in the sand bunker you are not allowed to take any practice swings, if you do you receive a penalty stroke. Also, one of the biggest rules of golf is that the person who is the farthest away from the hole shoots. Unless they are on the green. If you are on the green but farther away the person who is not on the green would shoot next until they are on the green.
Clothing is a part of the game you must not forget about, as most golf clubs have strict dress codes. The below sites are great if you are looking for something to wear on the golf course;

When you shoot the ball and it lands on a manmade hazard you are allowed a club length away from the hazard but no closer to the hole. A manmade hazard can include golf cart paths or sprinklers.
The biggest rule in golf is to have FUN. If you are not having fun your not golfing. It is important to have fun while golfing because it will also improve your golf game.
