Top four tips for putting
Putting can be a menace to your golf game, especially if you three, four or five putt the green. It can quickly devastate your round if it is not done efficiently.
One of the biggest problems for people who are putting is that they have no routine. It is very important that you establish a routine early on. Each stroke should be done exactly the same way you putt every time. If you watch consistent golfers you will notice they have a routine for every shot. You don’t have to copy anyone else’s routine; you can make up your own, but follow it every time you make a stroke.
The second biggest problem when you putt is practicing the wrong shots. It is rare that you will have to putt a 45 foot putt. So it makes no sense to practice it when most of your putts are usually 15 feet or closer. Once you have sunk three fifteen footers in a row then maybe practice longer ones. But it makes sense to practice the most common shots.
The third biggest problem is not having a style. You need to pick a putting style and stick with it. Even if it looks weird if it works stick with it. There are several different styles to choose from so test them out and stick with one that feels the best.
The fourth biggest problem is being too tense. Relax your body and focus on happy thoughts that bring comfort. If you become too tense you are virtually choking your putter so it doesn’t perform the way you want it too.
