The Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St. Andrews

The Royal Golf Club of St. Andrews is easily the oldest and considered one of the best golf courses in the world and is locate din beautiful Fife Scotland in the UK. There are 11 Championships that are played on the golf course each year and includes the prestigious Open Championship, which is considered one of the four major championships in Golf.

The Old Course at St. Andrews consists of 18 challenging holes ranging from Par 5’s to Par 3’s and 4’s and tests golfers from any skill level.

The first hole is 370 yards and is one of the most famous holes in the world. What makes this golf course even more challenging is the signature cavernous bunkers. These bunkers are more like ditches and can take several strokes just to recover the ball and get it into a playable position.

The Open Championship has been played at the Old Course at St. Andrews a total of 27 times and the last person to win was Tiger Woods back in 2005. The next Open Championship that is to be hosted at the Old Course is set for 2010. Tiger Woods has won the championship twice in a row at St. Andrews as he has also won in the year 2000. He is the first player to do so since Jack Nicklaus did it back in 1978.
